For Granted

Like the water that runs while you brush your teeth
It's all going down the sink.
Like the TV that's on when you're not even watching
Tirelessly entertaining, without a blink.
Like the wonderful weather blooming outside just for you
While you're just ignoring it, you stink.


Like the prettiest roses that you walk past by
Somehow, someway they just don't catch your eyes.
Like the lonely street light, that will serve you forever
Light your way through the darkness, no matter the weather.
Like the cheap trashcan that takes all your tissues of tears
Promising it'll be there for years.


Like the cheapest w***e spreading it free for you
No price, nothing asked for in return.
No acknowledgement or even a drop of appreciation
Left with nothing but a spirit burned.


Days pass with an awkward ache
Naked and embarrassed, it's hard to forsake
Once the seed has been planted.
And just like everything, mentioned above
You take me as well
For granted.
