The Unknown

The Unknown

A Poem by Khaelyn C.

Can you help her? Help her get out.

She’s trapped inside her mind. With all the pain and doubts.

She used to be so happy. She used to light up my world.

Can anybody save this poor little girl?

Little girl? Who is she? What’s her name?

I should know because mine is the same.

How do you call for help when you don’t have your own voice?

Can you even hear yourself over all the noise?

Can anybody help me because I dread

The little girl screaming inside of my head.

Can’t you hear her? Are you deaf?

Can’t you help her? You’re the only one left.

If she fades away before the night ends,

You won’t ever see me again.

‘Cause I’ll be with her in the unknown.

Please, I’m begging you to take me home.

Can’t feel anything, can’t feel hurt

Can’t feel anger from the promise you broke

They’ll help me they say. Stay strong they say.

But what am I supposed to do when they all walked away?

Has the little girl given up? Is she even still trying?

It’s hard to tell behind the tears that I am crying.

How do you know who you are anymore?

Who said I knew? I didn’t know before.

Why aren’t they listening? Can’t they hear?

The little girl that’s so far but oh, so near.

Can’t you see her? Are you blind?

Can’t you make the past rewind?

She can’t get out. She’s scared to death.

She’ll always be that way until her dying breath.

So please help her. Help her now.

I would do it if only I knew how.

If she fades away before the night ends

You won’t ever see me again.

‘Cause I’ll be with her in the unknown.

Begging somebody to take us home.
