the way i see you

do you know you're the first person i look for in a crowded room, 

but I don't know if that's the same for you and I don't wanna just assume. 

 

like for example i saw you today and i thought 

"how lucky must i be, 

that God had you exist 

at the same time as me" 

 

so after i sit there and pretend to pay attention at the screen, I'm still thinking that "you're the most beautiful person that i have ever been lucky enough to have seen" 

 

they say this means something i want to learn what it means, 

because the thing about relationships they never show us the behind the scenes. 

 

do you know sometimes i wonder if you might feel like this too, 

like if you have all of these thoughts that you desperately wish that i knew. 

 

do you know you're the first person i want to tell a funny joke, 

because i want to hear your laugh it puts back together pieces of me that broke. 

 

and do you know that your smile tends to change, 

and there's one specific smile that makes me melt in exchange. 

 

you know if i could write songs if i could sing and dance, 

i would express these feelings better in a way that might actually have you giving me a chance. 

 

and maybe i know what that would mean but then again what do i know, 

you're the first person i hope never lets me go.
