Goodbye Moon

Goodbye Moon

A Poem by Cae

The moon pulls the water towards it; waves collide against shores

Corroding it away slowly, over time

You pull me towards you like that

And slowly over time we corroded away the castle we took years to build

No one asks if the ocean wants to be moved by the moon

She lets the moon do whatever it wants to do and smiles all the time

But the sun warms the waters in her soul

Maybe it’s better for her

Maybe it’s better for the moon to be lonely

The sun lights a smile on her face, in her heart

From the start of the day until it fades away

The sun is so warm

I want to embrace its fire in my soul

And let it light up the best parts of me

That the moon always refused to see

Shrouded in darkness, forever searching for the light that is itself

You really can’t see the light in yourself

Always pushing the waves away from you

And pulling her back when you see how much she matters

I’ll embrace the sun in my arms and let my tears dry

And say goodbye to the moon that casts night onto me
