Rose and Black;

Rose and Black;

A Poem by Cae

Give me some sort of sign that you’re who I thought you were

I’m thinking I just know how to paint you brighter than you are

Nothing wrong with seeing the best in people I guess

But not when you keep painting me into blackness

I’ve grown tired of staring at you through rose-colored glasses

I didn’t have the breath to tell you, you’ve been choking me too long

I’ve been crying about every song, they’re all about you

But you sit there colder than the dead in ice and snow

So I’ll put on my mascara, and over draw my lips

Ready for a kiss from the sun and to not feel like the damned

I’m so much better than who you paint me to be, you can’t understand

Maybe you never will, and for that I feel sad

You’ll always see the bad, and never who I really am

Throw me into the fire, and pull me out again

Over and over, a cycle that pains me

But one you seem to love so much, since you won’t let go of it
