I Didn't Too

I Didn't Too

A Poem by Cae
"

*** high notes ***

"
You've got a classic room clearing start
And I'm sorry I couldn't be your purple heart
I just hate those nationalists
And you claimed me like you were one
Your shackles cannot be unchained
From my black freckled brain
Could you paint it with some shine
I'll pay you maybe a dime
That's all I'm worth to those Gods up above
So on the payment issue, let's not push and shove
I understand that this is not love
But I'm set on fire a little more with every touch
I thought for a moment you didn't want us to end
But you just wanted to transcend
Don't care if I do too
I didn't too

Makeup of rules, regulations, ethics and morality,
are only is false vanity.........
in the end survival is the only
Inheritance and instinct of humanity...

I can't say the ending of this one works for me Cae. Although it's the title. I love the title but where it appears, or how it appears in the poem jars.
The hurt is writ large as is the attempt to appear unfazed and resilient in the face of major heartache.
It's what we do, I guess...

Endings don't always work. Why should my poetry have to reflect something that isn't true?
