Dark Forests

Dark forests aren't welcoming

But we had no other way around

So we marched forward, hands held tight

And tried to smile like it'd be alright

But the ground was rough

And it tripped us up

And our tightly held hands broke so easily apart

I tried to look for you for a while

But I couldn't see a thing

And, it's hard to accept

But we can't stumble around in dark forests

Hoping to find each other in pitch black

We can't set up camp

And hope the light will find us

And lead us to each other

I'm not giving up on finding you

But I have to find some light to see

I hope that you will follow me

And meet me in the light someday

And even though I don't feel there's hope

I'll always be reaching for your hand in the dark

But I'm sorry, so sorry, in advance

If it's not your hand I find

Because it's too dark in dark forests to see

And if somewhere on my journey

I find a hand in the dark

If their hand feels like yours

I won't be able to tell for a while

So forgive me if I don't pull away immediately

I hope you know I'll always be looking for you

But I can't stay in dark forests

I have to find some light to see

I hope that you will follow me

And meet me in the light someday
