Let's Pretend

Let's Pretend

A Chapter by Cae

Laying on these cotton sheets
I go into the depth of midnight sighs
As I wait impatiently
For the sun to rise

Do you ever just feel so alone
You don't know if you'll ever find a friend
Cause this world will take your every breath
And soon we will all meet our end

Let's pretend our souls aren't growing dark
Let's pretend there's still a spark
Let's pretend we aren't running out of air
Let's pretend we have some to spare
Laying on this bed of grass
I watch the sun grow old in the sky
I know that this won't last
So let's pretend that we're not shy

I think someday is coming soon
and really I don't know what to do
Because we're supposed to live forever
But those fairytales we outgrew

Do you ever just feel so empty
Like you might never be whole again
If this tragic fate will ever change
Then I ask please tell me when

Let's pretend our souls aren't growing dark
Let's pretend there's still a spark
Let's pretend we aren't running out of air
Let's pretend we have some to spare
Laying on this bed of grass
I watch the sun grow old in the sky
I know that this won't last
So let's pretend that we're not shy
