Evening

Evening

A Poem by Ruarc Cinaed

Noson

Paham ewigod 'r heula brifio annwyd?

Paham biserau t Canfydda 'r chyneua?

Beth caddug wedi adfeilio acha hon dirio

'n droëdig 'r ddiwrnod at nos?

Evening

Why does the sun grow cold?

Why cans't I see  the light?

What darkness has fallen on this land?

and turned the day to night?

Darfod.

Rather dismil weather you are describing here, though I feel I lose something by not knowing how the poem sounds in it's intended language, after all poetry is meant to be read aloud. Please forgive me for not knowing or mixing up two things, is this written in Welsh? I am assuming this because your profile sets Wales as your area of residence and, to my untrained eye, it looks gealic.

You have learned so much gaelic that it truly amazes me. It really is beautiful in that language the language of our ancestors. I love how you flow. To me this seems that the speaker is dying becuase the sun grows cold. And he is wondering how such can happen. I dont know but that is what i get from this poem.
