The Hunter

The Hunter

A Poem by Cadence of Heart

I walk silently down the sidewalk

Watching, listening

For the sound of hunter's footsteps

following me

Safely tucked into their beds

safe from the hunter's grasp

Never to know the fear of being hunted

from the night's evil hunter

I will never know what it is to be

safe,

safe from the night's hunters and the fear they pierce into

my stone cold heart.

Never will I be graced the feeling of being loved.

of being wanted, needed.

Never will I.

I stop, i hear the hunter's call now.

I do not feat him.

I wait for the cold dampness that comes with the hunter.

I wait and I wait.

It finally comes

A sense of emptiness fills me.

I envy the ones that are safely tucked into their beds, never to know the hunter's terror.

Then I am gone.

this is touchingly heartfelt and I felt a specific impression between the lines, that does brush the canvas with sadness in the emotional context of a relationship failing to prosper, the hunter feels as if it the
seeker, the person who is trying to win the affection of a lover, and failing to understand the specific rules
of engagement or respect to capture the heart, I also enjoyed the way your words play off of eachother with stalling effect, causes the reader to ponder, beautifully crafted and inventful, keep it up :)

It's wonderful--you're being tracked and hunted down by your own despair. That's particularly profound . . . I've spent far too much time fleeing from my own inner demons

Actually, I think it was very interesting. Sometimes when you least expect what you are writing, it turns out brilliant.
What I think as I read it is an action story. A woman being chased and stalked by a lover who preys.
It was very gripping and kept my attention moved.

A very dark and powerful poem. I like it, it is touching and has a deep meaning.
" I do not feat him. " I think you meant " fear" right? Not trying to be a b***h or something, just wanted to point out a mistake. Besides that a very interesting poem.

Hmm good, interesting write. Gave me an image of a dark raining, urban city with a cloaked man going after a scared person trying to hide but failing. Liked it.
