Moments of Being

Moments of Being

A Poem by Elmy Khalaf

When the gentle wind blows

And the waves of little ripples

On the surface cascade and dance

And morning glory breaks as if on cue

Emerald hued sky

With silver on its jarged wings

Fleetingly appears reflected

Amid the waves of little ripples

Still cascading in columns of rows

And in the green grass wild flowers blosom

The butterflies are bright orange yellow red and warm

They fly and land and flutter their wings

Also in view an old duck floating behind

A curious flotilla of brown ducklings

All chance upon a man with a tiny dog

Between the two a cosmic dance ensues

Soon its chorpy the fiddler

Its frequency increases

His fingers are fast

Mind on this heavenly dance

Is floated physically carried counter the waves

Same frequency as this harmonious of beats

One is among this forever

Fleeting moments of being.
