Night Swimming

Night Swimming

A Poem by ThePoet
"

The final moments of a persons life. A class assignment.

"

I carry my coat upon my back,
my coat and my coat alone.
The winds are sharp with icy bite,
here where I wander far from home.

The sky is lit by cold moonlight
and the faintest glow of stars.
The crashing coast invites me in
to relieve me of my scars.

This place is so much colder now
than it ever is during the day,
but I suppose that as the sunlight fades
so goes the warmth away.

Frigid arms embrace me
here on this sea side cliff
and gentle waves beneath me
beckon with seaweed drifts.

I throw my coat up off my back

and turn my gaze to the sky,

bidding sweet farewells

as I close my eyes and fly.

Nice Imagery you've done, this made me feel like I was with you that night. And that was a really cold swim.
