Death am I

Death am I

A Poem by CW Smith
"

I had this poem published in 1997 in an anthology by the Poets Guild of America.

"
I am darkness, your dearest friend,
Your wounded life I will mend;
I am a moonless night,
I am your final fight;
I am a parting groan,
I am here when you are alone;
I am a friendly voice,
I am that other choice;
I am an open door,
I am what is in store;
I am a new begining,
Or am I a peaceful ending?
I am seen and seldom heard,
I am that sacred word;
I am a wilting flower,
I am hope when life turns sour;
I am a lonesome cry--
-- for death am I
