We Have a Choice
There is no greater wound to the heart than the self in self doubt
Self pity, self hatred
Guilt
There is no guilt, there is no good
Just better decisions
Each moment that passes, there is a choice
There are no shells, no walls
No caves
Just the fear that there aren’t any to begin with
So in these moments, when these things that aren’t there
Seem so safe, and so protective
It is fear that embraces us, and lets us know that things are to collapse
To break
To cease
When in reality, we have a choice
A friend told me that anger is adrenaline
It’s also fear
I said once that death is the hand that rocks the cradle
It’s not
It’s fear
Fear is death
For our response to opportunity and growth is to run
And when we look back and see that that opportunity
So frightening, so elusive
Has been replaced by a crater
We are saddened
And know that we could have stood in its place
This crater is like all others
Smoldering
A giant dry pool of potential
Potential both come
And gone
We have a choice
To take this crater and build upon it
Or to mash it deeper and wider
Listen
So quietly, so softly
And you will hear the sound of progress
Of moving forward through that fear
Potential
That little white marble
We have a choice
