In the Line of FireA Poem by CRISHAM"In the Line of Fire" is a powerful and evocative poem that captures the intense emotions and moral dilemmas faced by a soldier in the midst of war....
Amidst the chaos where shadows collide,
The sirens wail as the bullets rain down, A soldier stands firm, with fate as his guide, Two paths before him, one worn and one brown. To charge with his brothers or stay in the fray, Each choice a heartbeat that could lead him astray. The cries of the fallen echo through the night, Their faces are etched in his mind’s weary scroll, He clutches his weapon, a beacon of light, Yet questions the worth of this blood-soaked patrol. To fight for his country, a duty he bears, Or save just one life, burdened by despair. The smoke rises thick, blurring lines of the just, As honor and courage clash deep in his chest, He’s torn between valor and instinctual trust, To honor the fallen or strive for the best. The weight of each choice hangs heavy in air, As time ticks away, he stands frozen in prayer. With a heart full of turmoil, he takes a deep breath, And steps toward the choice that his soul cannot flee, For in the face of war, it’s a dance with death, Yet love is a fire that forever runs free. In the line of fire, with courage he stands, A soldier, a savior, guided by hands. © 2024 CRISHAMAuthor's Note
