WRITTENA Story by COLYNE07A horror story I'm working on. Still on chapter ONEWRITTEN… CHAPTER ONE. Running, running away in the darkness, in
the long narrow corridor; the feeling of moist aging brick wall suffocating the
air escaping Hailey’s mouth as she pants in exhaustion, her legs feeling wobbly
and tired but she can’t stop now. Not while this black shadowy figure is
rushing towards her with its long outstretched arm, along with its filthy long
pointy nails, as its made visible when under the ray of moonlight that pass
through the thin small openings the decaying walls arranged, trying to get a
grip on her.
“Am I going somewhere? Where is this
leading to?.” She asked. Her question was cut short as she tumbles upon a crack
on the floor & hit the sandy stench ground head first. Her left temple was
aching as she lifted her head only to find the shadowy figure in front of her,
engulfing her in total darkness…
Hailey Davell, a 25 year old woman, awakes
perspiring, sweat dropping from her forehead to her neck and collar bones. “It
was only just a dream” she muttered rubbing her left temple. It hurt, just like
in her dream. She brushed her medium length straight blonde hair and tied it to
a ponytail. She stood up from her unmade white sheet bed and headed towards the
bathroom. Got the water running and washed her face. She stared at her clear
baby blue eyes reflecting at the mirror for a bit as if trying to contemplate
what just happened. “It was just a bad dream” she shook trying to assure herself.
She looked at the digital clock on her bathroom vanity. “Two-thirty” she read.
She went out and closed the door. With nothing but a navy blue tank top &
gray panties as her sleepwear covering her rather curvy body, she walked across
her apartment, a modernized studio apartment on the 8th floor of George
Oak building, just a two minute walk from the central city. Growing up in a
small secluded town, she always dreamed of living in the city and she was damn
proud of making it here. She headed to the kitchen and poured some tea in a
cup. She looked at the city lights as she sipped. The colors of red, green and
blue served as a lamp in the place on the dark night.
“Hailey?” a man’s voice echoed in the room.
This made Hailey drop her teacup. Tea splattered on the black tiled floor along
with the broken cup. She can’t actually visualize who it was. “Hailey? Why are
you still awake?” the man came up behind her which made her jump a little.
“Babe? It’s me, Josh.” The man, a 26 year old Joshua Salberg, lean built body,
about just an inch taller than Hailey, with dark black hair and a stubble beard
on his square shaped jaw area. He was wearing a leather jacket over a white
V-neck shirt, grey pants and sneakers. He had a huge black bag on one hand and
a DSLR on the other “It’s almost three o’clock”. Hailey just stood there
staring at him. “Baby, what’s wrong? Its like you don’t recognize me. Its me,
your boyfriend, Joshua.?” He said grabbing her hand. With that Hailey calmed
down a little and hugged him, tightly. “Are you okay? You seem like you’ve just
seen a ghost! And why are you still awake anyway?” he said releasing her grip.
“Oh, uhm, yes, I mean, no, I’m fine, I just had a bad dream I guess thats why
I’m so jumpy, I’m sorry” Hailey stammered. “No, I probably scared you, I should
be the one to apologize, I mean, after what happened in the weekend and what
happened to Warner-” Joshua paused. “Warner?” Hailey asked. Joshua just looked
at her. “He’ll rest peacefully I’m sure okay? You know what, lets not talk
about it tonight” he picked up the broken cup “I’ll clean this up, you should
go to bed, you have work tomorrow”. “Oh, okay, I will, thanks, uhm, what are
you doing here anyway?” Hailey asked. Joshua’s face became puzzled. “Well, I’m
pretty sure this is where I have been living for two years now, this is where I
sleep & rest, I’m sure I’m not in the wrong room anyway, because there’s
this beautiful lady standing in front of me, which I’m pretty sure is
mine…well, not unless she’s seeing that Frank guy from upstairs.” Joshua said
jokingly. “I don’t know even know who Frank is” Hailey blushed. Joshua smiled
“Of course you don’t, but if you meant why I’m early its because the band party
ended early, well, it wasn’t supposed to, not until the neighbors complained
about the noise in their garage, but I swear, two hours was all I needed, I got
some pretty great shots of them.” Joshua grinned. He is a professional
photographer, he actually took a course on it. He even has a studio downtown, along
with his best friend Van, its been running for a year and a half now. He
carefully dropped his things at the white sofa, threw his shirt away &
climbed on to bed. He leaned to look at Hailey who was just staring him. “Well?
Are you just gonna stare at me all night?” he asked. Hailey proceeded to the
bed beside him and laid down. Joshua suddenly gave her a peck on the cheek
“Goodnight babe, I had a hell of a night, I need rest, go to sleep okay?” he
said then laid down as well. Hailey was still shaking. “I’m sorry I’m not myself
tonight” she said. “Its okay honey, now go to sleep, you have an early start
tomorrow remember? Goodnight.I mean it.” Joshua mumbled within the sheets.
Hailey just stared at the ceiling. She doesn’t know what’s wrong. She just
isn’t comfortable. She doesn’t know what is bothering her, or maybe she does?
She has a vague explanation why this is all happening, why she’s acting this
way, she’s just too afraid to believe its true. © 2014 COLYNE07Author's Note
