Looking in the Mirror

Looking in the Mirror

A Poem by C.O.B

I am blessed, that is a fact
But I question why, because of the way I act.
I can take a room of laughter and fun
And watch it all become undone.
I act all proud, with a stupid grin
Just because I am a coward who wants to fit in.

When I look in the mirror, do I like what I see?
Do I see the reflection of a man I want to be?
Or do I see a child screaming out for help
A child who saw a reflection of their ugly self.
If I met myself would I like me?
No is the answer, but what do others see?

There must be some good among acting like a fool
And those who see that good, it is they who'll
Call me a friend, a term most dear,
But to hurt those people is something I fear.
I wish I could hold them all in a warm embrace
And hope they can forget my stupid mistakes.

Good friends can get past mistakes :)
A good, reflective poem. I like the tone, too. So many self-reflective pieces by men are so dark. This has hope woven in and understanding - a good feel to it.
Looks like you're new. I'm not here much, but welcome and I hope you enjoy the cafe!
