The Calling

The Calling

A Poem by C.O.B

I was singing and dancing among my peers

With laughter and joy and without any fear.
I was approached by a man I vaguely knew
He asked me a favour, a thing to do.
I tentatively agreed, unaware of what was to come
I was going to join him and HIS peers… should be fun

I arrived like a lamb, which had strayed from his flock
I was among lions, their power was a shock.
I tried my best, and others seemed to approve
But there were stars who’s positions I couldn't move.
I seem to settle, like dust on a ledge
But I was pushed hard, almost over the edge.

And then I lined up, ready to dance
The man beside me I saw with a glance.
A fiery man who seemed quite strange
and my assumptions were the first thing he proclaimed.
His blunt happiness put me at ease
At that moment I knew, this was the place for me.

Your writing is fantastic. I love the amount of symbolism you put into this poem.
