Mute

Mute

A Poem by Chenin Marie

I had to tell you
Because sewing my lips shut
Did more damage than prying them open
I had to tell you
Because every night you fell right asleep
I laid awake, suffocated by doubt
Strangled in your arms
I had to tell you
Because each time your lips touched mine
I felt nothing
I had to tell you
Because my heart was so heavy
I carried it in my gut
But that was just the weight of you
I had to tell you
Because it was no longer love

Because sewing my lips shut
Did more damage than prying them open

these opening lines are very organized and organic to heart. it's always hard staying mute or much talkative when it comes to love, cos neither the love's understood nor the feelings of poor heart. a very beautiful poesy you've come up with. am looking forward to reading your work, Marie.
