Lucky

Hidden emotions and things kept secret from people

They say she’s so spoiled,

That she is quite intelligent.

People say she has it all,

And that she’ll go far.

Though she is always bullied,

She continues to smile.

Everyone always tells her how lucky she is,

And to not take it for granted.

‘Cause those who have nothing,

Would kill to have her lifestyle.

If they only took a closer look,

Then her life wouldn’t seem so grand.

She has long since lost her emotions,

She doesn’t remember what it’s like to feel,

 Or to give a smile from the heart.

Her will to live has been shattered like a glass mirror,

Her family is broken and abusive.

Her friendships had died long ago,

But those people refuse to move on.

Her memory is almost completely faded,

Suppressing all of her painful emotions.

She’s constantly hurting,

Nothing to dull her pain.

No one has yet to see through her seamless facade.

 There have been so many failed suicide attempts,

Constant thoughts of ending it all,

Are continually flitting across her mind.

She’s always wondering,

How much longer she has to live.

Before she takes her own life away,

But she is just so tired and weary.

All she needs is a rest from her long journey,

Who is she you may ask?

She is me,

As I am her.

If those who are less fortunate had to be like me,

Would they take it and live within the darkness,

As well as in luxury?

Or would they kindly decline and continue to live in the light,

As well as in poverty?

Now that you know the real me,

With all of the impossible challenges I face,

Am I really so lucky now?
