Her

Her

A Poem by Caleb Aquilino

Your strength inspires
Everyday I see the fire
That is inside you
Burning ever true
The dedication required
For you to perspire
Anything thrown your way
The mask you portray
To conceal
With such zeal
The you that is real
Hiding the ordeal
That has shaped
Forged your landscape
Made you into the beautiful
Woman I know, indisputable
How someday I hope
To know the full scope
Peel back each layer
So I can love you greater
Experience the things
That has helped spring
The greatest woman I've known
That has allowed me to grow
Oh, how I wish I would have met
Your mother, because she seems the best
I will always live my life
To win her opinion to make you my wife
To love her daughter always, I assure
So I can always impress her
