Number Twenty-two

Draft_1

It was the words

                Not uttered that

You strolled away from me

A chilled wind pushin’ you back

The winter’s rains cloakin’ my tears

                Takin’ a deep breath

Tellin’ myself ‘I’m mighty, brave,’

                I lie to my shadow

To you about this ticker

                My voice beats against

My locked lips

                You’ll never hear

                ‘I need you,

                ‘I never said

                                I love you - more,’

Each of your steps

                Cuts this heart smaller

Beggin’ the Wizard

Take this dice from this chest

Snake-eyes is its bloody fate

                you fade from my sight

Fear you’ll come back

                Nails into this soul

‘I love you,’

I’m not mighty, brave - yet,

Your empty shadow

                Is my wet stone.
