Notes to Persephone

Note 13

Draft 1

By: Chase L. Currie

C**k the gun,

Pop the pill,

Lite the smoke,

And put it drive.

Come with me,

My Rock n' Roll Queen,

A sweet doll cladded in black sunglasses,

And a blonde halo,

Take my hand, dear,

We will race to the edge,

Outrun Thanatos’s wings,

Beat the Devil to the Reaper,

Drive,

Fast and wild,

Hope the pills don’t take over,

Take my hand, doll,

We will beat the sun to tomorrow,

Where it will be safe,

Filled with serenity,

Oh, tomorrow,

We’ll find hope there,

Joy of things better to come,

We will be happy in our arms,

And yet, my hand on the rearview mirror,

Staring at the melodies of yesterday,

As if they still make me smile.
