Notes to Persephone

Note 11

Draft 1

By: Chase L. Currie

The weight is gone,

But the burden remains,

As the sky weeps in buckets,

And I sat in the car wholly in awe,

My hands, knuckles bone steel,

A humming tune of sadder day,

In the seat next to me,

My questioning ace of hearts,

Begs to understand the how,

We got here,

In this car watching the rain,

With the ghoul’s blue in my gaze,

And you gone from my lips,

The weight is gone,

But the burden remains …

One day, I’ll be a better man.
