I’ve added nothing to the world,

Not a drop of Joy in this dull place,

Not a shade of gray in the shadows of yore.

 

I’ve added not a word to the dream

Of thought,

Not a kiss to the poem

Of love.

 

I’ve added nothing to the grand game of it all.

 

But I added a

Scar to you.

 

I’ve paced together a story,

                                Unseen

                                Unheard

By the stage -

                                You’ve heard it.

                                You’ve seen it.

 

It added nothing to you.

                                Fair enough.

 

At least,

                                I failed in love.

                                Love like the Bard said -

For it is better, no?

                                No.

 

But I tired -

                                What more could I do?

 

I’ve added not a note to the band

But I tried -

                                I tried.

 

I did add ugly marks to this page, isn’t that something?

I think we often decimate our self-worth without realizing the people we've affected in our lives in a good way without ever realizing it. As for failing in love, that's pretty common. Some guys give half of everything they own through divorce. ha :)
