Take a Breath

Take a Breath

A Poem by Corina Jean

Look at the past

Look how far you have come

The steps you have taken

The bounding leaps

And the stumbling  falls

Have all lead you here

To this place

And this place

Is a proud place to be

A place that has rushed to your doorstep

And has waited to greet you at the end

The end of the stage

Where you walk with your peers

With your loved ones watching

And it doesn't end at the end of the short walk

It has only begun

On your own you will be

With classes

With bills

With worries you never imagined

But, you have to take a breath

A big, long, deep breath

And think

Think hard

And believe

Believe you can do it

Take a breath

And smile

Through the long strides

Bounding leaps

And stumbling falls

Take a breath

Take it in

One step at a time

Know you are not alone

Your struggles are heard

Yet, forgotten

But, in the end of the end of the past

You can take a breath

And take in the future

Take a breath

It can change everything

With its clarity

And opportunity to show you

That you can do it

Take it in

Take it all

Take a breath

Author's Note

Corina Jean
I am obviously starting college, and moving out. My family is miles away, and I am here to take it all. I wanted to write this to show what was going through my mind; in the most simple way I could portray it. Sorry, it is a little bumpy. But, like most of my poems, it was written in a spur of the moment. I hope you enjoy. :)
