By Breath.

By Breath.

A Poem by Peregrin's Quill
"

I scratched these words out as I thought an illness was getting the best of me.

"

Within every expanse there is pain

My pain

It is the exiting of me, slowly

Dissolving

It is more than being washed by rains or wind

But by breath

Both soft and uncontrolled

Here in this darkness

This solitude

Amongst all of you who watch

And who smile

While well wishing

But don’t understand

Those who have never had the nerve or guile

To hold the eyes of ruination

With courage enough to keep looking

Through that growing shadow

Even though

And despite all effort

Knowing I will pass by his hand

I continue...

I continue breathing

Losing myself in pieces

With every exhale

I am lesser

Weaker

Yet I still remain me, in part

That is the payment and the joke

The pain which radiates

From laughter

My pain

It is the exiting of me, slowly

Dimming

By breath

wow..i don't know what the illness is but it sounds nasty..very dibilitating...i hope you are feeling better...it has however, one use..it has given you the thought and emotion to write a very honest poem that draws the reader along hoping, naturally, to never have to personnally understand the stuggles and pain it has taken you through to end up writing this. full marks.

About
It has been years since I have written and shared my poetry. Recently I have begun...again. Not much to say about myself, a simple and quiet person who enjoys classical guitar, good scotch, and .. more..
