Write as much as possible, write daily about anything that interests you. I don’t even know what I’m thinking until I start writing. It was the blank page that resurrected me. Writing for me has been an act of creating, not an act of memory alone, but an act of inventing the present through the prism of concentrated memory but also the created expansion of opportunities to think and reflect in a way to open up more possibilities. Sometimes I don’t know what I’m thinking until I start writing. My greatest writing has come in rewriting, revision is critical. It’s where sentences become a train in search of the caboose. I begin to think about what it means to write in rhythm, to write with passion, to write with insight, to write with intelligence. I write a lot, to think a lot, which causes me to revise a lot and there’s no substitute in doing it. Practice writing…. short essays-500, 1000, and 2500 word essays.

Writing is a risk, the risk of exposure of ignorance on the page, but also the joy of self-discovery of knowledge when writing is taking place. Knowledge at its best is transmitted through writing and writing at its best is a gift of ignorance to be learned so you can relearn the lessons you should have learned to transmit the information you discovered. Writing brings about new experiences, wisdom, self-discovery, discovery of the other, the vast university of possibility to be conquered much as possible. To live in writing, inhabit writing where words become immensely important avenues and vehicles of tremendous self-discovery of knowledge and wealth of information to test the limits of your capacity to be human, so writing could be a measure of our humanity in the attempt to get it right in life as we do on the page.

I find having a notebook and pen handy at all times a big help in creating something new. Hearing words, seeing something of interest, I jot tidbits down, read a good book, an idea might come. Later these tidbits can grow into a good write. Valentine

I agree 100%. The biggest trick to being a writer is to do it. I know too many people that claim they want to write, but can't answer the question, "Why don't you?"

Thank you ...
Something that I think has been forgotten, the practice of writing...indeed...not to air nor to share just simply the practice of writing :)

When people have nothing to write about but can't admit it to themselves they write tripe like this.

Everyone writes differently, every idea comes differently... This thing reads like cheese ball quasi intellectual unoriginal clown car pretentiousness. Maybe this crap works on high schoolers but you aren't in the classroom right now, why not try something less clichéd on this topic?

darling.....
I do the same thing, I often just sit down and write without a plan. I just improvise at first and follow the themes. I have to say this is very well-written and quite informative.

Good Job!

I rarely edit or revise my work yet most of my writing has been very well received, lol.
