CHANGES

CHANGES

A Poem by Carrie Montgomery

I have grown weary of life with you

for you have become cold and indifferent

I look at your once beloved and familiar face

and wonder who you are- such a stranger you have become!

I no longer feel the warmth of your love

it has become as cold as ashes

all-consuming has turned into suffocating

I can no longer see a future with you

our long talks of plans have ceased

-blown away in the chill winds of our discontent

we have both become restless in this discord of our hearts

you reach for me- perhaps in reconciliation?

But I have grown weary of loving you

Carrie, you captured the emotional barrier between two lovers, as they grow apart from each other. The pain bleeds through to the reader, as we read the poem. Thank you for sharing this very painful and personal poem with us.
