Evidence

Evidence

A Poem by Carrie Montgomery

tiny handprints on every surface

toys, books, and teddy bears all in surplus

cute little jeans and little man socks

playthings everywhere except the toy box

peek-a-boo and chase the ball

crayon scribbles on the wall

trails of crumbs from his lunch

milk and juice spills-there's a bunch

tid-bits of food here and there

some spaghetti sauce in momma's hair

bath tub toys in the sink

kitchen floor's like an ice-skating rink

in every room is evidence of baby

especially in the heart of this lady!

Carrie, oh-how I remember these days. Coloring on the walls, food crumbs, spills, petrified pieces of hot dog under the couch, dirty hands, runny noses-bathrooms off limits to save the toilet mess...and the list just goes on and on. What a wonderful write from a mom who is basking in the midst of it. Your descriptions are absolutely perfect, and this was a joy to read and be reminded of those days. Well done friend, well done! :-)

A tender and sweet poem about the creative impact that your son has upon your life. Although, how does the kitchen floor become a skating rink? Just curious. Thank you for sharing your observations in this poem with us.
