Evidence

Evidence

A Poem by Carrie Montgomery

tiny handprints on every surface

toys, books, and teddy bears all in surplus

cute little jeans and little man socks

playthings everywhere except the toy box

peek-a-boo and chase the ball

crayon scribbles on the wall

trails of crumbs from his lunch

milk and juice spills-there's a bunch

tid-bits of food here and there

some spaghetti sauce in momma's hair

bath tub toys in the sink

kitchen floor's like an ice-skating rink

in every room is evidence of baby

especially in the heart of this lady!

What a delightful glimpse into the life of a mother with an energetic little one! Enjoy every messy minute of it, it passes far too quickly.

i feel for this. it reminds me of my neice, and how i pictured life would be with my daughter, but god didn't want that to happen, so it didn't.

very well written.

Gee, Carrie...hire a maid!

Joking, of course.
Sweet poem about your child; an awful lot of work keeping up with him, I'm sure.

"everywhere" is one word

Funny: My baby is 35 and HIS (and his wife's) house looks like that and he hasn't any children, ha-ha.

Oh Carrie - I LOVED this. It's adorable and so is the picture! Is that your baby?

I could definitely see this published in a Woman's magazine...

With the title 'Evidence' I was almost expecting this description to turn into a crime scene with an evil twist at the end. I must say I am glad it didn't. Although maybe you could do an alternate ending? :)
You paint this colourful picture very well. I can only imagine what it is like to live in this kind of scene, but your poem helps a lot with that.
Nice work.

I haven't gone through the experience of being a mom but I have been witness to a lot of such evidence - children of friend's and relatives. So I can certainly picture the scene. Very well described. This is exactly how the house looks like when there's a child around.
Cute picture too.

Lovely write Carrie.

Oh Carrie you tug at my heart strings with this one, never having kids myself I haven't had these experiences but with this I got a great glimpse of what it would have been like.
