She's waitin' for him in places

his heart don't wanna go

was thier love ever right?

heaven only knows

 

she gives her heart away

like it don't mean nothin'

hoping he'll love her

and make her feel like somethin'

 

Both thier hearts are breakin'

but he'd swear that it ain't true

he's left with empty anger

and all she feels is blue

 

They'll try just one more time

over and over again

this same ol' story

must come to an end

 

He'll push her away

then reel her back in

in this game of heartbreak

does anyone win?

 

She lets him use her love

like some foresaken thing

all she has is hope

and to that her poor heart clings

for both thier sakes must end

Why is it we're doomed to return to a lover, who toys with our emotions for their graditude? Never realizing the harm we are doing to ourselves and those around us. Have seen too many friends hurt this way and am powerless to help beyond offering a shoulder to cry upon. Does anyone know the reason for this? Sigh. Thank you Carrie for sharing this poem with us.
