Beloved HandsA Poem by Carrie Montgomeryfor my step-father...on his Birthday! Inspired by the song performed by Holly Dunn: "Daddy's Hands"
there is a song I like about a Daddy’s hands it tells of the love for a Father and memories of that man let me tell you about some hands I love for they are good hands too though they never held me at birth my love for them is true those hands are tan and weathered soft, those hands are not those hands are much like leather what stories they have got! they are work-ravaged they are hale and sturdy more often than not, they’re ragged and they’re dirty those hands were made for work and they are raspy to the touch but those hands are beloved and to me the mean so much for my sons, those hands are gentle they have consoled, healed , and taught when my boys are in need of comfort it’s those hands which are sought those hands are ever steady for Momma they have been the hands that tie the bind on a love that knows no end those hands have been many things they mend and they repair those hands radiate love when they lightly touch my hair those hands though rough and rugged bring reverence so tender- they leave prints upon my heart that will ever be remembered Oh, let me tell you of the hands I love for they are such good hands, indeed they bring the love and tenderness that every daughter needs. © 2009 Carrie MontgomeryReviews
