All of His Life

All of His Life

A Poem by Carrie Montgomery
"

~ for my brother, Damon.

"

All of his life

no matter how he tried

his father’s love he was denied

All of his life

he tried to be approved

but nothing worked, his father wasn’t moved

All of his life

unkept promises broke his tender heart

that father/son bond was troubled from the start

All of his life

he was his father’s perfect reflection

but never received that much craved affection

All of his life

I watched him suffer

for those words of love were never uttered

And I wonder now

if he knows how

I have loved him ALL OF HIS LIFE

This is bittersweet because on one hand his father was not attentive but then he has you to make up for that! This is beautifully penned, truly :)
