A Woman's Work

A Woman's Work

A Poem by Carrie Montgomery

I do the work of many with just two small hands.
Oh, if my lot in life were that of a man's:
A man puts in a day and comes home to rest-
Never is his day off anything less!

My work is thankless and payless and never-ending.
And my paid vacation? It's always "pending"!

I am a Mother, a chef, a plumber, a wife.
A handy man and secretary.
A teacher, a nurse, a physician for life.

From sun up to sun down-
It's on-going for me:
I'll never worry about job security!

Nay
This was a great blend of wit and exasperation. I know well how you feel!

Funny, how society reacts so negatively when a biological male announces that they're more comfortable living their life as a woman. Questioning their sanity. Yet, society doesn't value the work that a woman has to balance between work and the home front. Tearing the woman is several different directions at once. Thank you for reminding us, with your poem.

Yes but are there health benefits?! LOL I love this and I feel you! I have teenagers AND a three year old! I thought that this was so fun and flowed easily.

(and never forget that a man CAN NOT grow a human being inside of their bodies so they sometimes get "Womb Envy")
