Haunted Dreams

Haunted Dreams

A Poem by Carrie Montgomery

I find no peace of mind:
A fugitive of memories,
Running from unseen enemies.
My imagination keeps the pain alive.
Demons and ghosts from out of no-where
they hide in every corner of my mind:
untouchable.
I find no freedom down here:
I am held down by fear.
No peaceful dreams have I-
they are all haunted by ugly truth.
Not some made-up horror,
only a past I cannot leave behind.
