Life's Symphony

A laugh, a sigh, a trumpet's blast

We smile, we frown, none ever last

Each life is a song, a musical piece

And, just as in music, each note shall cease

We rejoice. we grieve, but for ought? 

Our life: a harmony of joy and sadness wrought

Don't bemoan each cadency in life's symphony

Refuse to squander other's sympathies 

Live in a way to make your life sing

Only then will your spirit truly take wing

Author's Note

I love music, and I've always thought of life as a song, a symphony, if you please. I came up with it a good while ago, and just found it in a stack of old papers. I smoothed out the rough parts, shined it up, and put it here to be subject to your criticism! Tear it down, please, I look forward to your opinion!

Well this is beautiful. The correlation between music and our lives works perfectly. And I liked your word choice. Although, "But for ought" was slightly strange coming out of my mouth. I felt it switched up the flow a little bit, just my opinion of course, but it is still a great piece. Thank you for sharing!
