The Secret MeadowA Poem by CreativeCookieNot finished...Oh well, posting anyways!I run the hidden trails of the forest The fallen fruits of seasons past carpet my way Muffling my footsteps The debris crushed beneath me Loose their fragrances into the spring air The sticky-sweet of the fall maples mix with the spiced pine The pungent sour yet sweet muskadine Now crushed beneath my feet I tread lightly upon my secret paths My steps falling swift and soft I step from the dappled shadows The flickering light and dark Banished as I step softly past the treeline, into the meadow Peace floods me as I sigh Letting my worries drift away with that outgoing breath Hungrily I inhale the quiet of the meadow Bringing it to my peace-starved heart I walk to the center of my haven My sanctuary The birds greet me and sing a song of welcome Each trying to outdo the other Creating the perfect symphony The flowers nod in greeting The grasses brush my hand All bow before the coming wind It's greeting full of love It wraps itself about me in a gentle embrace With ghostly fingers softly brushes wayward hairs from my face The sun beams down merry and bright Happy with such a loving scene Sending it's rays down with joy and grace It plants a warming feather-light kiss on my cheek © 2013 CreativeCookieAuthor's Note
