ALONEA Poem by cynthiabuhainbaelloAnd stop awhile to assure myself it's over. Fragments of the painful images still cause The tears to fall, but with freedom, I feel better. Yes, I found a new life, strength, and hope, Thought rising from the mire was not easy. Like dying everyday, in darkness I would grope, With stifled cries, drown in an endless sea. Alone, I stood to take back all that was me before, No more heaviness of cutting words or rejection. I know my worth, I'm destined for greater things in store Life's what we choose to have with our decisions. There was no pain in our goodbyes, no echo of your voice. Relief was sighed and with courage I faced the future. To be set free was a just matter of needed choice Alone I am me, my past behind, alone...I will endure.
