Lines On The Old Man's FaceA Poem by cynthiabuhainbaelloDefinitive lines on his face Convey the pathos of his life One can see the painful trace Of anguish cutting as a knife. His hidden tears locked up inside Stifled grief that left him worn Eyes in blank stare try to hide A father's sorrow yet unborn. The years have not been very kind Each day he yearned lost company His only son they could not find These last days leave him a memory. War is cruel, unmerciful is Fate For heroes are the dead and the lost The lines on his face now sadly state "My son had paid such a high cost."
