Lines On The Old Man's Face

Lines On The Old Man's Face

A Poem by cynthiabuhainbaello

Definitive lines on his face
Convey the pathos of his life
One can see the painful trace
Of anguish cutting as a knife.

His hidden tears locked up inside
Stifled grief that left him worn
Eyes in blank stare try to hide
A father's sorrow yet unborn.

The years have not been very kind
Each day he yearned lost company
His only son they could not find
These last days leave him a memory.

War is cruel,  unmerciful is Fate
For heroes are the dead and the lost
The lines on his face now sadly state
"My son had paid such a high cost."

The lines just have a melancholy feel throughout... the picture gives the agony that much more for the reader... thanks for sharing...
