Why?

Justify my poetry?
That would mean I need to find
Palpable reasons in my mind
For evidence of Beauty
It would mean spelling forth
Imagination for its worth
Analyzing each Memory
It's like trying to explain
The need for breathing
Or why Life remains
Or why Love is so consuming
Poetry stood through the ages
Lasted centuries and bloomed
It will live in tattered pages
Of human hearts,  there finds its room.

Ah yes, I too am in awe of the Master! He has also helped me so much, I am but a novice. I am on a mission to read all of his work, but he churns them out so fast that it will take a long time to catch up. I only discovered his work a few months back.

And so true, Cynthia. Poetry becomes almost an obsession amongst its devotees, because it enables us to delve into our inner natures, and express the spirit within.

Thank you David - I wrote this in response to a news article that said "Poetry is under pressure to justify its existence. Now more than ever in Germany and in Europe..." Justify poetry? Why does it need justification?
