We Are Nothing

We cannot know how precious
Something is,  until we lose it.

We do not realize the value of someone
Until we find  they are gone.

We cannot be grateful for all that's around us
Until we lose  the light of the sun.

We fail to hear the songs of birds
Or the  beauty of a single tree,

Ignore the sounds of Nature,  heard
And take for granted,  all its beauty.

Yet in an instant,  all can be taken,
Our vain expertise cannot restore

All that we had, and as we awaken
We realize we're just human,  nothing more!

Very true...if we destroy the earth by taking it for granted, we destroy our own home.

We, human beings, notice things too late often enough. When time has all but done his work and left us with empty hands, only then we start to wonder what beauty we have missed. Nicely done.

Thank you Acropolix for the the comment. Man abused the environment for many years and has caused the ozone layer to deplete, causing the heat of the sun to melt glaziers upon
glaziers in the North, thus resulting in higher water levels and
disturbing the balance of Earth's temperature. One huge break
in the glaziers cause earthquakes to travel by water, causing
storms and floods (tsunami). The other disturbance is the testing of nuclear weapons under the sea -moving the big rocks at the core of the Earth and again, causing massive Earthquakes and tsunamis. These things will happen more as Man continues to ignore the effects of his doing.

Humanities and its flaws...Then we ignore the whisphers of help, its silent screams, its cries, nature now is deeply wounded...I just wish its not too late to man to change... A great write my friend.
