A Poem by cynthiabuhainbaello

Words

It is a deadly
Double-edged knife
That cuts the heart
Completely,
Bleeding strife.

It is the spark
That sets on fire
Tongues of Anger
Devouring
In the mire
All that's bitter.

Words released
Become Reality,
They leave a mark
Some stay
Permanently.

Children remember
Words we said
They stay to heal
Or hurt
Through the years
They feel
The scars
Words birth.

Words can be a great comfort, they can heal and do great things and just the opposite as well. They are powerful enough to kill. Your words are so right. Excellent poem, I love the structure and format you used in this.

Thank you Aurora B. Children absorb every word we say - some carry them through the years.
You are absolutely right. The tongue can be a knife...and the wounds it leaves may never heal but fester forever.
