The Spirit Of Anger

The Spirit Of Anger

A Story by cynthiabuhainbaello

There is power in one's words and there is venom in one's reasons.  Released in words,  that venom spreads in the spiritual realm its toxic contamination and affects those around it.

"The tongue has power of life and death,  and those who love it will eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18:21)

Watch what happens when a person with so much anger and negativity enters a bus or a room.  The people near him will soon sense the heaviness and he affects them without any word or gesture.  However,  since he has so much anger and steam inside him,  he has to let it out on someone sooner or later.  Angry people have an inner need to strike back,  for no reason other than because they need to.  Cursing and bullying are two of the ways negative and angry people let out steam.  It is for them a form of release,  no matter who is the victim.  It gives them a sense of power and control,  however deceptive that might be.

The proverb says "those who love it will eat its fruit" because Anger bears fruit,  it grows and spreads spiritually in our world.  Multiplied and tolerated,  it becomes a social monster that eventually,  cannot be corrected but have to accepted as "part of the psychological changes" in a modern society.  Angry people need to be understood instead of being  corrected.  The truth is,  they need to be told that their anger destroys and deteriorates relationships and society in general.  Anger always causes Self-destruction and often, it births a violent release.  It is never productive and never results in Good.

The recent events in the US is alarming and should awaken concern in many of us in our own communities.  The bullying of a senior bus conductor,  old enough to be grandmother,  is a sign of how our children are dealing with their anger issues in these disturbing times.  The shootings in schools done by children and teenagers who carry guns in their backpacks,  to shoot out their antagonists just like they were part of a video game they have to win,  is appalling,  even to an apathetic society.

The last event of a man shooting people in a cinema house,  killing almost 13 and causing injury to 50,  is another shocking incident of anger misdirected.  Words can birth that atmosphere and it spreads out like dark fog over a family,  a community,  or a nation.  That dark fog is the spirit of Anger. What we declare with our mouth becomes a reality.

"But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart,  and these make the man corrupted.  For out of the heart come evil thoughts,  murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft,  false accusations, slander."  (Matthew 15:18-19)
