"TEEN GIRLS ULTIMATE QUESTION:"HOW DO I LOOK?"

Can you remember the Cinderella story wherein Cinderella almost lost her chance to come to a ball to meet her prince charming because her dress looks awful and she has nothing wear? Or try to flash it back to your mind when you saw the Disney princess Ariel (in little mermaid) in her story where she needs to change her tail into a feet first in order to be loved by her Prince Eric.

According to Erik Erikson in his Psychosocial Development, as they make the transition from childhood to adulthood, teens may begin to feel confused or insecure about themselves and how they fit in to society. As they seek to establish a sense of self, teens may experiment with different roles, activities and behaviors. A new survey out of U.K. which was conducted and published by research organization Schools Health Education Unit, 63 percent among 14 and 15-year-old of teen girls want to lose weight. After surveying more than 30,000 teens, researchers also found that girls' eating habits tend to worsen as they age. Based on the survey results, boys were less concerned about their weight than female contemporaries.

Oh ive studied Eriksons theory on Pyschosocial development. This is a very important topic and is needed in todays society. Even i once felt the need to look a certain way to be appreciated by people.....now ive learned to not give any s***s..i just go out with out any make up or in my pajamas no s***s given lol
I think this develops when an individual develops an acceptance for themselves and self confidence.
Thats when they know theyre worth and stop caring
Lovely article.

CAPOLAVORO,
I like this article. The reality of self esteem and it's connection with body image is actually understandable. As you shared, "63 percent among 14 and 15-year old of teen girls want to lose weight." This is a tricky issue because the tendency may or may not become lessened. All I know is there are no easy answers. People are so complex and many times needy and will do all kinds of things to be accepted. Tricky, tricky... Love them. Mamas and daddies love those kids and help them through this time as much as you can. That's are job as parents. Stay in the canoe as sometimes the trip may get crazy! Great article. Thanks.
Blessings,
Kathy

Nice. But in our place boys are now body conscious. Gym , exercise .six pack and so on. I have a friend concerned about his bald. In my case i am happy with Whatever i have and try to maintain that.

its good to know what things a girls is concerned of. Also even if a girl is beautiful ,she like to hear from her loved ones. that's why they ask HOW DO I LOOK?
