The Most Special Time

The Most Special Time

A Poem by C.A. Lucas

The most special time

Of the life of a child
Is one not of rhyme
Nor is it mild

No, this is the first
The most real
The worst
The big deal

It’s the time
When the brain of a child
Is out of control
And tells them the lies

And what lovely lies they are
The reassurancess
That can never be held
The good old pat on the back

That your love life has begun
And it’s begun with the love of your life
Who is the one for you (apparently)
And you’ll do anything to get them

But evil lies of love
Are the desperate ones
When you have the true doubt
They’ll creep under your scalp

To poison your weak mind
To feed you the lies
And ruin your life.
