Revenant code: chapter 1 Tartarus

The darkness was surrounding Perseus as he fell in to the rift. It felt as if he would never land. It felt as if he was going to be stuck in this realm of void for eternity. This feeling came to an end as he fell to the ground. The thought of Ichirako dying drained him to the point of exhaustion. He was so tired he passed out. He eventually came to. Perseus was unarmed and was not quite sure what had happened. Perseus heard a noise coming from his left. Naturally he looked real with caution to the left. This is when he remembered the fight with Wyatt. Perseus was struck with a mixture of rage and despair. These feelings were much more than he thought he could bear. The anger released itself through him punching the brimstone that he stood on. He smashed his fist so hard that his knuckles busted on the brimstone. The blood ran down along with his tears. “Why did this have to happen to the three of us? Why would you betray us like that? We were brothers in both arms and spirit. I would have married her Wyatt. Settling down is not exactly my way. I would have for her, for you. Why did this have to happen to us?”

Perseus lifted himself up to look around. “Well no use sobbing I gotta find out where the hell I am.” Perseus was looking around in search for a weapon. He caught a glimpse of a sword made of bones. “Weird… must be some barbarians nearby.” He picked up the sword and swung three times. “Well it is lighter than what I am used to. This may benefit me since I am missing an arm. Well time to do what I do best… venture.”  He sniffed the air to see if he could smell the ocean and make his way to civilization. When he sniffed the air he did not smell ocean. He smelled blood, fire, and burning flesh. “What the hell is this place?” he followed the scent of smoke. As he travelled he saw people just lying around nude curled up in a ball. These people look as if they have not eaten in years. The smell of smoke was getting stronger. He saw a bridge that he intended to cross. Fire shot out on the sides of the bridge. He looked over where it came from. He looked over to see, “what is that…?” there was water that was on fire. He saw transparent humans swimming around in this lake of fire. He flashed back on what Wyatt said before he fell. “You will just get in my way Perseus so, I shall plunge you into the abyss.” “So, this is the underworld. So I cannot do anything about wraith, b*****d! I cannot even avenge Ichirako. You had this all planned out didn’t you Wraith.” This did not stop Perseus. He then decided that no matter what happens he will break out of the underworld. He crossed the bridge to make to the other side. He caught glimpse of an old man tinkering with some armor. “Hello? Old man what exactly are you doing?” “Mind your matters boy I am only forty years of age. I am not old just yet. The youth today have no manners.” He looked at the young man missing his left arm. “Right… not old but, you’re going on about lack of manners. Sheesh, talk about in denial.”  “Well, welcome back sleeping beauty” the old man said playfully. “Glad somebody in hell has a sense of humor.” “Hell?” he started to laugh at the young man. “What’s so funny old man?” “This isn’t hell boy. This is Tartarus or simply purgatory. You basically wait her until the warden decides what do with you.” “Is that so old man? Is there a way to get outta here?” “No, not that I know of… you could try to defeat the warden. That is unlikely though.” “How do you figure old man?” “Well I heard you throwing a fit earlier. Look at your knuckles.” Perseus looked at his hand.  Perseus looked at his knuckles and noticed they were completely healed. “What in the world? Knuckles don’t recover that fast.” He said aloud. “That’s because in this world no one dies and that is why you can’t defeat warden. So might as well wait for your tribulation.” “I can’t do that old man. I have someone I need to avenge so I can’t just wait for my sentence.” Perseus said. The old man noticed the look on his face. It was familiar he lost someone he loved. “I see… then you better at least try.” “The warden is just down that path. I wish you luck boy.” “Thanks old man. I owe you one.” He ran down the path that the old man directed him to.

Perseus ran into a large room that resembled an arena. A giant demon stood in the middle of this room. “Perseus Vahn Estaban you have finally arrived. where were you boy.” Said the large demon, this demon was huge. Perseus was about six foot two and still was not as tall as this demonic Gigas’ fist. Its fist was a bout ten feet tall. It resembles a skeleton but its bone was more like armor. Its bones were as thick as red wood trunks. It had spikes coming out of its shoulders. It had razor sharp teeth. It had these ominous looking eyes. It also had canines that went over the jaw. It also had lower canines that did the same. “Oh, nothing much, just taking in the sites. That lake of fire should be one of the seven wonders.” Perseus responded sarcastically. “So, we have a jester in our midst. The jester is even armed. Human I hope you do not plan on using that sword on us. He looked around and noticed his sword was here. “Nah, I plan on using ‘that’ sword he ditched the bone sword and rested his sword on his right shoulder. “How do you plan on using a b*****d sword with only one arm?” the demon looked dumbfounded. “You should never under estimate a swords men demon, especially with one his own sword.” Perseus swung this sword like a baton and pointed it at the demon. “Get it, got it, good.”  The demon showed him the soul of Yuriko, “She was to make it to nirvana, but if you continue I will have no other choice but to send her to the other place. “You have gone too far demon. Did you actually think you could fool me into surrender? You make me sick!”

Something started to happen to Perseus’s body. It was covered in darkness. Then he fell to his knees. He was cringing out of pain. Perseus felt a pain unlike any other. He dropped his sword and held his stomach. “Are… my… organs giving out?” He curled up in a fetal position. He felt every one of his organs being crushed at the same time. He began to throw up blood, “what the hell is going on here? How can I be dying in the underworld? Soon the pain came to an end as he was looking at the demon; it was just as confused as he was. His vision blurred and he eventually died. The demon noticed his skin was turning pale like a corpse. His hair lost its color. It turned silver like and old mans. “This is strange, how can this be, this is the underworld. “One cannot die in the land of the dead?” Perseus started to move and lifted up. Once he was back on his feet his shadow wrapped around him once it surfaced he had a brown tunic. He also had brown leather pants and boots. Perseus had a belt that was made of chains with a skull emblem. His shadow turned in to a cloak and his eyes opened. His eyes were rose red. He grabbed the sword. When this transpired the blade crumbled and the handle outer crumbled as well to reveal a hilt made of human bones. These bones were a yellowed white, the damned souls got absorbed into the boned hilt, they beagn to form a  large  purple transparent sword. The blade was long like his b*****d sword. It had for prongs the blade looked as of was split in the middle. “So what were you saying about leaving human?” human? Not me I have shed the human skin to become what I am. I am now the Revenant Knight Phantom. He turned his back and wandered towards the old man. Where are you going revenant knight?” “To become stronger,” said Phantom.

The old man’s little hut was the first place Phantom went to. . “Is that you boy?” “Yeah it is I but, in a new state. You can refer to me as Phantom.” “You mean like the spirit with no specific role. How did you become a revenant knight without selling your soul?” “My wrath has transformed me to the  undying, I also have also fell stronger, faster, smarter, and more confident.” Phantom explained “Come here for a moment. I owe you a favor don’t I. he saw pieces of armor all over a table. “My name is Heratio Gauntlet this is an artificial arm known as Gauntlet prosthetic technology. I have named this that because it takes on a form of a gauntlet and is my last name. I used to be a runist when I was alive. In your current state you should not over use it. I use light magic to forge it so be careful. I may ask for a favor in the future Phantom.” As you wish Gauntlet,” he started to form what looked like a disk that he attached to his arm. It had slots were he put the bars that made a metallic duplicate of the skeletal structure of and arm. “Can you move this arm phantom?” so he showed him move it so naturally. He began to attach wires that ended up resembling tendons and muscles and other needed parts to keep the arm together .Than, he used chainmail to cover the wires. He attached the gothic design that looked exactly like a gauntlet. “When you finally make it out of here Phantom no one will be able to tell the difference. Just remember take it off every once in a while or the light magic particles will start to break down your anatomy. You are technically undead .It will think you evil, until we meet again Phantom.

………………………………………………………………………………

Over ninety-five years have passed in the underworld but, the demons found out that old man Gauntlet was captured for assisting Phantom. One of the demons was using dark powers to torture the old man. “Cornelius, what the hell are you doing?” Cornelius was a black skeleton with the powers of lighting at his fingertips. He had a couple of demon soldiers surrounding the old man. “I will stop once you tell me where Phantom is.”

“I am here.” The soldiers then jumped to kill the revenant knight. They all got cut in one strike then Cornelius tried to kill him he took out the on with on strike as well. His sword was still transparent but it was darker, longer, and wider. “Sorry I was late, I was slaying demons for the past one hundred years now I finally have ten thousand souls and now I can wage my assault on warden. I still remember I owe you a favor Gauntlet.” “I need you to tell my daughter that I love her. She should have the same last name as me.” “How is that even possible? You have been stuck here for the past hundred years.” “I had a great monk use a barrier to stop her from aging at birth, that seal has been broken for the past seventeen years.” He explained. “Why go so far?” “Our deal was to leave her alone. I would go in her place.  Then I found out Diablis was going to double cross me. I could not let him claim her.” “Why would she be in danger?” “Because gauntlet technology can defeat him so, he wanted revenge. He took every one away from me my wife included. I could not allow him to have my Cheryle as well.”  “As you wish I shall deliver that message to your daughter, after all you did give me my left arm back.”

He headed to the arena to finally kill Warden, “hello warden, you and I will be fighting to the death. We will not be fighting in the realm of the demons.

I hated how his best friend betrayed him. Is there a purpose behind it? Maybe not, because he has become the demon soldier of the demon lord. I feel sorry for the protagonist to have lost his love. It is very painful to have seen her die in front of him.
Basically, you have describe what purgatory looks like which is a dimension if a person will go to heaven or hell. I have heard nuns saying that for a person in purgatory to be saved, a person in Earth must pray for him several times to let him go to heaven.
I am eager to read the next chapter.
