Finding NeverlandA Poem by C. T. K. L.Everyone needs to find their Neverland, whether that be a coffee shop, their backyard, or under a bed. Being a child is a precious gift too often ripped from us far too early.Finding Neverland He pays the tab On his minimum wage check He smiles wide So no one knows he’s such a wreck He tries to hide The cuts and blood and bruises on his neck The only thing he ever wanted Was to be a kid and laugh a lot And the only thing he ever wanted Was the only thing he never got *Let him find Neverland Even if it’s only for one day Might not be foreverland But just a one-time stay Could make him remember and Maybe keep him living for today She’ll watch the kids Her mom was out late again She’s such a mess But then, she always could pretend That she was less Sad and scared and angry at the world The only thing she ever wanted Was to be a kid and laugh a lot And the only thing she ever wanted Was the only thing she never got *Let her find Neverland Even if it’s only for one day Might not be foreverland But just a one-time stay Could make her remember and Maybe keep her living for today We all ignore The child that lives inside of us We just can’t face That the magic passed right by us Without a trace The love and warmth and freedom now is gone The only thing we ever wanted Was to be a kid and laugh a lot And the only thing we ever wanted Was the only thing we never got *Let us find Neverland Even if it’s only for one day It won’t be foreverland But just a one-time stay Will make us remember and Maybe keep us living for today… Living for today…
