The Tale of LightA Story by C.D. DaltonSometimes life can be a journey which doesn't seem to be going anywhere, you seem to be just going in circles, doomed to fail. Until one day when you discover what has never been found before. There once was darkness. People blind of the sea in front of them, repeatedly sailing in circles, slamming into the same hidden objects. Over time, many ships became damaged to the point of no repair and sank unceremoniously into the deep black sea. There was still hope to the others, although it didn't seem so to them. Their ships were worn, their lives had been torn and hope was farfetched. One day, a ship slammed into something sturdy, something which did not budge. For the first time, the sailors had hit land. As weird as it felt to them and as taxing as it felt to their minds and bodies, they hobbled out of the ship and onto the land. They moved forward with only faith in finding something motivating them. Soon and abruptly, they ran into something sturdy once more, and it was very tall. They found their way into it, and climbed upward, not knowing what they would find. At the top, the men scurried about in a dire effort to find what they had been looking for. Suddenly one of them hit a switch and a light illuminated the space around them. The light nearly blinded them in it's unrelenting power. They had used their eyes before, but never had they seen what they see now. Almost scared of it, the men sat curiously staring upon the light. The men had stumbled upon something never seen before and it was called light. All around the lighthouse, in the distance, was darkness, but now in this one spot was the light. Drawn, almost as flies, the ships immersed in the darkness began to move toward the light. The light was what they had been searching their whole lives for... they knew it must exist, so they searched and finally it had been found and shown for all to see. The more they began to think about it, the more they realized that the light had always been there ready and able to illuminate the darkness... all that was needed was them. From that point on, they were able to discern the light from the dark and see the darkness in a truly new light. Darkness had always existed and they knew it always would, but now their faith had blessed them with the light which would serve as a stronghold for those brave enough to find it. © 2011 C.D.
