A GirlA Poem by Kristen Liles
Let me tell you a story
Of a girl dressed in white She did all she was supposed to And never picked fights She had many friends And those who loved her Yet she still felt alone And tossed asunder The only friend that gave her hope Was a little friend that she named "Rope" He had offered her escape And she was more than willing to take Let me tell you a story Of a girl dressed in white She wore ribbons and pigtails And was home long before midnight She smiled, she laughed She worked incredibly hard But she never felt happy, Just alone and afar People believe what they see People believe only what they think can be The girl knew this That's why she put on such a good show So that way when she was oh so sad Nobody would ever know She didn't want help No one could help her anyways Except her friend Rope He promised her release Sometimes, she felt, That was an opportunity to be seized Let me tell you a story Of a girl actually dressed in black Never mind The story ends here Where her neck went - © 2017 Kristen LilesReviews
